It's still going strong. I have adjusted the excellent Shimano hub gears exactly once. Four new tyres. Added a comfy saddle. And lights. Otherwise, no expenditure whatsover. Hands down the best bang-for-buck of all the (many!) bikes I've ever owned. <br />Nice geometry, nice gear ratios/spacing, comfy, handles and stops really well. If I remember correctly, there is a plastic black cover held by a single screw that you would need to remove to see the anchoring point for the shifter cable. From there you should be able to remove the nut holding the cable and either reattach the cable or replace it. It looks like such a simple mechanism but I know nothing about maintaining and fixing bikes! The seat is wide enough to fit over most standard racks. You may have problems when you try to add panniers, since side guards of the Yepp seat may interfere with them. The best thing to do would be to ride to a local bike shop and try a few racks and panniers and see how it all fits together.bostonbybikehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16002562971047930168noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8969807322809516965.post-79452563554370224552019-09-25T13:30:49.441-04:002019-09-25T13:30:49.441-04:00Hi there. Doesn't look like one of the Thule/Yepp products. Trying to fit more storage onto my own commuter bike w/ the Yepp + seat post adapter setup, haven't had much luck getting specific recommendations at local bike shops or via Thule customer service. That's my only qualm with these e-scoots. They need bigger wheels! There's an interesting study out of Portland, Oregon about their scooters, that scoot trips mostly replaced walk trips, and some car trips. They would work so well in Copenhagen, where the cyclist commuters already ride much faster (on average) than North American cities. This is why velomobiles are so efficient. And it's what makes all those modern aero road bikes a bit silly, but that's another topic.bostonbybikehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16002562971047930168noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8969807322809516965.post-73719587604879474572019-01-23T07:51:17.634-05:002019-01-23T07:51:17.634-05:00Even with the added weight of a unassisted Velomob...Even with the added weight of a unassisted Velomobile, because of the aerodynamics of a Velomobile compared to a state of the art road bike, a Velomobile rider (Velonaut) uses considerable less energy to go as fast if not faster than a Roadie. The major aerodynamic drag of a road bike is the rider themselves Add the weight of an electric motor and batteries to a Velomobile, that is more weight that you have to over come. A dead battery means dead weight.
